Historical Work Related Fatality Statistics-2007–Texas Worker’s Compensation Law

Austin, Texas, August 13, 2007 – The Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation announced that Texas recorded 486 work-related fatalities in 2006, a slight decrease compared to 2005 when 495 fatalities occurred. Nationally, there were 5,703 fatal work injuries in 2006, about a one percent decrease from 5,734 fatalities in 2005, according to the most recently available data released August 9 by the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI).
